A songwriter who with Doc Pomus also helped to shape Elvis's early career.

Born Mortimer Shuman on 12th November 1936 in Brooklyn, New York, USA. Died on 2nd November 1991 in London, England after a liver operation. Along with writing partner Doc Pomus he wrote some of Rock and Roll's finest moments, and although they only worked together for six years they wrote an amazing 500 songs. After he split from Pomus he went onto write musicals to varying degrees of success, there is no problem with his music living on though, thanks in no small part due to the fact that he helped write some of Elvis Presley's greatest recordings.
