The man who in the seventies made David Soul a singing sensation.
70 TONY MACAULAY
Born Anthony Instone on 21st April 1944 in London, England. Tony Macaulay has gained worldwide success with his songwriting and production skills, during the 70's his songs were rarely off the charts, he had a natural gift for melody and although his songs were very much off their time, some still remain irresistibly infectious. Like many figures before him and after him, he was accused off producing pop jingles more for financial gain than for art's sake, but this should not diminish his contribution to music. In recent years he has turned his hand to writing books, mainly thrillers after walking away from pop music at arguably the height of his powers.
