Yet another great lyricist.

45                           HOWARD GREENFIELD

Born 15th March 1936 in Brooklyn, New York, USA. Died 4th March 1986 after complications with AIDS in Los Angeles. With childhood friend Neil Sedaka, Howard Greenfield crafted some of the greatest pop songs in history, and was yet another great partnership to come from the legendary Brill Building. After years off success they split in 1973, although he'd written with others to great effect, later that decade they began writing together again. Unfortunately he lost his battle with AIDS in the mid 80's, but this great lyricist's work lives on as demonstrated in 2005 when Peter Kay and Tony Christie made Is The Way To Amarillo the biggest hit of the year.
