11 JAMES HARRIS/TERRY LEWIS
Born James Harris III on 6th June 1959 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA. Born Terry Lewis on 21st November 1956 in Omaha, Nebraska, USA. James Harris is also known as Jimmy Jam and together with Terry Lewis they have formed one of the most prolific writing and production partnerships of all time, dominating R & B throughout the 80's and much of the 90's. They started their careers with The Time, which was one of many Prince side projects, but they were sacked after turning up late for a gig and consequently fired by Prince. Ironically they were late because they were working with The S.O.S. Band who was to go on and be their first big success. Since that day they have continued to make highly polished music, and now have become more successful writers than their former mentor.
